A two days National Conference
on Applications of Computational Biology in Omics (ACB0-18) was organized by PG
and Research Department of Biotechnology, Sri Sankara Arts and Science College
(Autonomous) Kanchipuram on 11th and 12th October 2018. The
main objective of the conference was focused on Biotechnology research and
development in the laboratory using Bioinformatics for exploration, extraction,
exploitation and production from any living organisms. The conference was
inaugurated by Dr.K.R.Venkatesan
Principal, Sri Sankara Arts and Science College. The Chief Guest for the
inaugural session Dr.D.Velmurugan Professor,
UGC-BSR Faculty University of Madras delivered inaugural key note address with
a brief overview about the concept and Applications of Computational biology in
Omics. Dr.B.Ramesh Professor and Head
Department of Biotechnology and Convenor of this National Conference extended
his heartfelt gratitude to all the resource persons, participating researchers,
students, and organizers for making this attempt. Dr.E.Subramanian Professor (Emeritus), University of Madras and Dr.G.Dicky John Davis, Assistant
professor, Department of Bioinformatics, Sri Ramachandra University were the
guests of honour for the inaugural session. Various eminent personalities delivered lectures on topics like Structure
based drug design and venomics, Chemo informatics and marine algal drug discovery,
Omics as a tool to study marine eco system, Application of next generation
sequencing in aquaculture, Microbial metagenomics and data analysis. The
conference was attended by more than 150 participants from various Institutions
of Tamilnadu and technical papers and posters on various topics supported by
recent innovative trends in Omics were presented by the authors. Finally organizing
secretary of this conference Dr.S.Balamurugan,
Assistant professor, Department of Biotechnology proposed vote of thanks.
