 Watson and Crick forum, PG and Research Department of Biotechnology, Sri Sankara Arts and Science College organised a student forum meet on _09/09/2025_ from _12:30_to 1:30__ PM.

M.Sampreeth from 1st M.Sc. Biotechnology gave his presentation on “Chromosomal abnormalities and associated genetic diseases”, Department staff, Research Scholars and Students participated in the meeting.

The welcome address was given by Dr. B.Ramesh, HOD and Convenor

______M.Sampreeth ______ gave detailed presentation on Chromosomal abnormalities and associated genetic diseases. Students participated in the meet and during the questionnaire session.

The forum meeting was over by 1:30 PM with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Harishkumar Rajendran, coordinator of the Watson and Crick forum.




 Description: Chromosome-associated genetic diseases are disorders caused by abnormalities in the number or structure of chromosomes, which carry genetic material in the form of genes. These abnormalities can result in the gain or loss of genetic material or changes in chromosome structure, often disrupting multiple important genes and leading to developmental and clinical consequences. Examples include Down syndrome, which is caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21, leading to intellectual disability and various physical abnormalities
